Arleen Dale Kirtland

A

rleen has been a teacher for many years and holds a degree in Secondary Education from the State University College at Oneonta, New York.

One of her early occupations was that of a school teacher, which she enjoyed immensely.

However, after several years as a public school teacher, and despite her love of teaching, she became dissatisfied with the school system.  She left the occupation for a number of years, choosing to employ her skills in a few fields until finally, with her husband, purchasing a lawn care franchise for Prince George's County.  That franchise is now reverted back to Peaceful Valley, an Earth-friendly lawn care company.

Having moved to Bowie as a result of that purchase, she began to establish a new life.

Over time, she was able to go back to teaching.  She now teaches quilting (and sewing), along with knitting and crocheting, at the Bowie Senior Center.

Her students have grown to adore her, and her classes are quite popular - usually full each semester.

She also privately teaches when asked.
